We’re all very familiar with USB®, the Universal Serial Bus has been a common standard for well over 11 years. But now we have arrived at the third generation, USB 3.0, which considerably enables what we all want from our devices: Speed. Lots of speed!
Patience isn’t commonly found among us tech people, we have come to expect everything to be instant and as that’s rarely the case. Our expectation that our tech will simply work warps reality so that, when waiting for a slow file transfer or download during peak times, the seconds or minutes that pass feel like hours or days. God forbid if anything we do with our computers takes more than a few seconds, so it is becoming more and more essential to have technology that can keep up with the size of today’s data transfers such as high def video and images.
USB 3.0 is meant to alleviate all this with the significant speed increase when it comes to data transfer. There is also the added benefit that it causes minimal disruption or upheaval as it is backwards compatible with all the devices you already have that use USB 2.0. You do need a new cable and host adapter but you can still use the device on a USB port though this will give USB 2.0 performance.
